Buckeye Roadhouse Restaurant Review, Mill Valley

Buckeye Roadhouse has been serving up American comfort food In Mill Valley since 1937. Robert Price (Rumpus, The Capital Hotel in London) is currently the chef. This restaurant is located right on the side of 101 and is quite popular. Our last meal was in the Spring of 2020 after they reopened the patio.

Picks:
Raspberry Lemon Drop ($11) – Lemon-Infused Vodka, Combier, Lemon Juice, Served Up with a Sugared Rim and a Float of Chambord looked great, although the Chambord wasn’t exactly floating.

buckeye roadhouse mill valley English pea soup

English Pea Soup ($13) Mirepoix, Garlic, Pasillas, Tarragon, Potato, Thyme, Chicken Stock, Crème fraîche isn’t vegetarian but is a nice hot way to start off a meal. Not too creamy.

Calamari with Shrimp, Lemon and Tomatillo Salsa ($9.95) was a deep fried plate full of goodness. A good amount of batter, so you could barely taste the seafood, but a great dish for sharing.

Buckeye Roadhouse Mill Valley oysters bingo

Oysters Bingo (House Favorite) ($14.95) is a signature dish consisting of 6 oysters baked on the half shell with cheese, aoili, and spinach. A heavy appetizer, but pretty satisfying.

buckeye roadhouse mill valley bbq ribs

Barbecued Baby Back Ribs ($27.75) with french fries & Coleslaw hit the mark.  Good portion size of tender ribs with lots of flavor.  Could have used more sauce on the side.

buckeye roadhouse mill valley vegan peppers

Vegan Vegetables and Beyond meat stuffed peppers ($22.50) with Beyond Meat® Stuffed Peppers, Almond Milk Polenta, , Piquillo Peppers, Snap Peas, Asparagus is a great plant based dish for vegans and vegetarians.  Flavors were bold as were the textures. Good to see they are with the times.

Grilled Berkshire Pork Chop with Apricot Chutney, Tatsoi and Chive Mashed Potatoes ($22.95) was cooked perfectly to a desired medium rare. The pork possessed a sweet glaze that accented the quality tender and juicy meat perfectly. Huge portion of green mashed potatoes.

Buckeye Roadhouse Mill Valley filet mignon

Petit Filet Mignon with Green Peppercorn Sauce, Sautéed Spinach and Gruyère Potato Gratin ($29.95) was on the small but thick side, yet perfectly cooked, tender, melted in her mouth, and sure to satisfy meat fans. The potato gratin was pretty garlicky.

Side order Broccolini, Shallots, Garlic ($9.50) was a huge side cooked just right.

Grilled Corn on the cob ($7.95) was also done right.

Panorama Rustic Batard ($2.50) with butter & Maldon sea salt is quality bread with artisan butter.

Buckeye Roadhouse Mill Valley smores pie

S’more Pie (Marin’s Favorite Dessert) ($8.95) is a signature dish that everyone should order. Most of this decadent pie is a light meringue on top of a short layer of chocolate, marshmallows, and a graham cracker crust. Tyler Florence loves this dish.

Kids small Caesar salad with grilled sliced chicken ($7.95) was a good-looking salad with a ton of chicken on top.

Kids hot dog with french fries ($4.95) was a long dog sure to satisfy any kid.

OK: (Order if you like this dish)

Beef Brisket with Horseradish Cream and Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($18.50) was a massive portion of beef with an equally huge dolup of mashed potatoes. The beef was okay, but nothing special.

Pans: (We would not reorder these dishes)
Mojito ($11) was on the bland side, with not enough sugar or rum.
