Roam Artisan Burgers is a new Burger joint on Union Street in the Marina district. They focus on humanely raised, grass feed meats, sustainable produce, organic ice cream salted caramel milkshakes, wine on-tap, and agave-sweetened sodas. Even their menu is printed on 100% post consumer recycled paper or using green energy. All their packaging is hundred percent compostable.

Decor, Vibe – Roam Artisan Burgers has a open and airy feel the long counter, a long communal table, and lots of retro light bulbs. The restaurant was filling up during lunch with the local work crowd trying out new place.

The Classic ($5.99) Pacific Pastures 100% grass fed 1/4lb beef patty, House made pickles, Butter lettuce, Tomato, Onions, House made pickles, Aged White Cheddar was a decent burger with good flavors cooked to a medium and not very juicy. They didn’t ask us how we wanted it cooked, a major red flag. The patty looked tiny compared to the lettuce and tomato. Big eaters will want to get the second patty.

Russet Fries ($2.49) were freshly fried ended on quantity, but On the salty side.

Strawberry Artisan Soda ($2.49) was okay but still possess a blended soda flavor phenomenon.

Service – Roam Artisan Burgers took about 10 minutes to get us our order. The owner was doing his best to roam around and try to ensure everybody was pleased.

Value – Prices are reasonable compared to other burger joints in this class, especially in this ritzy neighborhood.

Alternatives – Pearl’s is still our benchmark Burger in San Francisco.

Verdict – Roam Artisan Burgers is a solid place for a sustainable burger in the Marina District. The prices are right and the burgers are decent.
