Sinbad Bar and Grill serves Mediterranean food in downtown San Mateo. They used to have a market in back but it closed. Sinbad’s serves kebobs, shawerma, salads, and sandwiches.
Decor, Vibe – Big open kitchen lines one side of the room, large drape hanging from the ceiling sets the mood. Earthy tones on the wall. During lunch, it was filled with nearby workers.

Picks:
Combo Kebob ($12.95) – One each, grilled skewered fresh marinated chicken breast and a skewered marinated leg of lamb. The lamb one was excellent. Cooked to a medium rare, juicy, and very tasty. The chicken was ok. Nothing special to it.
Combo with Hummus
We ordered one with tons of rice and house salad, the other with some very nice done humus and a small dish of tabouili. The pitas were pretty fair. Not hot and fresh like other places.
OK:
None
Pans:
None
Sinbad Bar and Grill has you order at the counter then take a seat. Food is then delivered to you. The food was decent, especially the lamb, making us want to explore some other offerings. The place is not as formal as nearby Kabul restaurant.
Every Friday and Saturday, they have Belly Dancing. They also visit the San Mateo, Fremont, San Lorenzo, and Redwood City farmer’s markets.
