Ba Shan London UK Interior Decor

Ba Shan is a Northern Chinese restaurant located near Chinatown in the Soho area of London. They specialize in small plates and we went for dinner. The menu changes significantly during lunch, so make sure you go when the dishes you want are available. Ba Shan opened in March 2009, their sister restaurant is Bar Shu located across the street.

Ba Shan London UK Exterior Decor

Decor, Vibe – It is located in an old building with many small rooms. Each room has a small dining area has a different theme and is very modern, clean, and full of relics. Diners cross all races and age levels.

Picks:

Ba Shan London UK Dry Fried Green Beans

Dry fried Green Beans (£7.50) were fresh, cooked well, and had lots of meat flavor. On the small side quantity wise though.

Ba Shan London UK Dry fried Asparagus

Dry Fried Asparagus (£8.50) cooked just like the beans. Very good just not a lot.

Ba Shan London UK Special Fried rice

Ba shan special fried rice (£6) was a fairly big dish full of carrots, egg, sausage, green onion, and rice. Much more interesting to eat than plain rice!

Ba Shan London UK Wonton Noodles

Wonton Noodles (£5.20) satisfied our desire for a noodle dish with its warm broth. It was a cross between a Cantonese dish and a Shanxi one. Good amount of oil in the broth.

Ba Shan London UK Sweet and Sour Pork

Sweet and sour pork (£7.50) had a nice quantity of pork with a not too sweet sauce that reminded us of similar sauces in China.

Ba Shan London UK Jiamo Bun

Jiamo (£3.20) or Shaanxi flatbread sandwich with tender stewed pork. Slightly browned bun, but two nice buns overflowing with lots of pork.

OK:

Ba Shan London UK Lotus leaf buns

Lotus leaf buns (£3.20) with tender stewed pork were not as good as the Jiamo ones. Nice green pseudo vegetarian color. Order those instead.

Pans:
None

Ba Shan had a person manning each small dining area, so we essentially had one waiter taking care of 3 tables. The food was very good, making it a good bet for anyone looking for this style of Chinese food. Prices are on the high side, as is much of the food in London. Tube: Leicester Square
