The Wolseley serves classic British Cuisine in the Mayfair neighborhood of London, across the street from the famous Ritz Hotel. It opened in 2003. They have everything from Steak Frites to Fish to Roasts & Grills and serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. Lunch and dinner menus are identical. 12.5% discretionary service charge.
Decor, Vibe – Former car motor works and Bank building with high vaulted ceilings, lots of marble, dungeon like chandaliers, Chinese decor accents, ground floor, private room, and mezzanine seating. Elegant custom made tableware. A mix of tourists, businessmen, and well dressed locals were eating when we visted. This restaurant can become a scene with celebs, so they ask no pictures be taken. Our visit was for afternoon tea.

Picks:
The Wolseley Afternoon Tea
Fruit Scones
Cakes
Finger Sandwiches
Elegant Tea Service
Wolseley Afternoon Tea (£19.75) had five high quality finger sandwiches, two fruit scones with home made jam and clotted cream, three pastries, and a selection of teas. We choose a classic English Breakfast tea. A dazzling spread that could fulfill three people. This was quite a nice introduction to British Afternoon tea, and better than the Harrod’s Afternoon tea. Compare this to Harrod’s Afternoon Tea.
Chicken Soup
Salt Beef Sandwich
Chicken Soup and Half Sandwich (10.75) featured a long simmered chicken soup with lots of savory flavor. Salt Beef sandwich tasted like corned beef and definitely hit the spot.
OK:
Hot Chocolate Cream (4.50) with lots of whipped cream and a mix it up chocolate was average. Nothing special with this drink.
Pans:
None.
The Wolseley took a long time to start serving us, but improved slightly as the meal progressed. Prices and quality are reasonable for this level of restaurant. This is a very good place for visitors to eat at and experience British food. Tube: Green Park
