Gott’s Roadside formerly Taylor’s Automatic Refresher is a classic burger joint with 2 locations in the Wine country and one in San Francisco. They were forced to change their name in 2010. We have dined at the San Francisco Ferry Building location and the Napa location next to the Oxbow Market. This place serves burgers, sandwiches, and the like. They have a pretty big beer and wine menu for a burger place. We’ve eaten burgers here several times, which are average, and it was time for a change.
Decor, Vibe – Gott’s has classic diner decor. Busy Ferry building location with lots of tourists and locals looking for a fast lunch. Both have patio dining for sunny days.

Picks:
Bacon Cheeseburger ($8.99) with American cheese & bacon, lettuce, pickles, secret sauce on a grilled sourdough bun was made with all natural Niman Ranch beef and cooked to a medium well. A little pink inside they claim, but it was pretty well done and not juicy. Good meat flavor and decent size made it a solid burger but not in the top tier.
FISH AND CHIPS ($13.99) had Fresh Halibut battered and fried, served with fries, slaw, tartar sauce, lemon wedge & green onions had 5 pieces of delicious hot fish. Not huge quantity for $13.99, but adequate. Cole slaw was pretty average.
CHICKEN CLUB ($9.49) Swiss cheese, bacon, romaine, tomato & pesto mayo on grilled sourdough was a good sized sandwich with decent quality chicken.
OK:
GARLIC FRIES ($3.99) Tossed in garlic butter & parsley were good. The garlic was fully integrated in the fries. Parsley was weird to have.
Pans:
None
The wait at Gott’s can get real long during peak times. Instead of eating in the dining room, we got food at the shorter to go line inside the Ferry Building. They have free refills on soda and use eco friendly cups. Wine by the glass from $5, bottles from $15.
The food was of decent quality, but there is so much other good food at the Ferry Building to try. The burgers from Prather Ranch or Porchetta sandwich at Rolli roti on Saturday’s farmers market are even better. Slanted Door’s Out the door has good Vietnamese. Hog Island has great oysters. Acme bread has awesome bread especially the Pan Epi and sourdough.
