Started in 2002 by 29-year-old chef and owner Justine Miner, RNM is a “hip, yet reasonably priced neighborhood joint.” It is located in a colorful area of the lower Haight with lots of ‘interesting’ people and smells outside. They describe it as serving small plates of American food with slight French and Italian twists.
They have a very reasonable $28 Prix Fixe Menu, Tuesday – Saturday 5:30PM-7:00PM which includes select Appetizers, select Entrees, Choice of Dessert (Cheese Plate not Included)
Kitchen Counter
Decor, Vibe – Modern, colorful atmosphere with a nice bar area. Most people in their 30’s and 40’s were dining. Friends, Birthday get togethers, etc.

Picks:
Grilled hearts of romaine with fuji apples, saint agur blue cheese, toasted hazelnuts and champagne vinaigrette ($28 Prix Fixe) Seared romaine gave it a unique flavor, slightly burned though.
Fig and smoked proscuitto pizza with midnight moon, arugula and aged balsamic vinegar ($28 Prix Fixe) Tasty combination when all are eaten at the same time. More crust that most, which means less toppings.
OK:
Wild Arugula, pomegranate, fig and crab apple salad with roquefort, toasted pumpkin seeds and red wine vinagrette ($28 Prix Fixe) was a typical salad. Nothing special.
Pork Osso Bucco on creamy polenta with sauteed chicory mix and gremolata ($28 Prix Fixe) was dry but had decent flavor. The greens were way too bitter.
Molten chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream & espresso creme anglaise ($28 Prix Fixe) was good. How could it be bad? Not as chocolaty as the best.
Meyer Lemon and buttermilk Panna Cotta with fresh berries and shortbread cookies ($28 Prix Fixe) was a big dessert. The Panna Cotta was fair, not great. The berries had too strong a vinegar on them.
Pans:
None
RNM Service was above average, never had to chase down the server. Price for the Prix Fixe menu are a good deal. If you visit, we’d recommend coming when it is active. Food is decent but not outstanding. Prices are higher than we would expect at a reasonably price neighborhood joint in the Haight.
