Pearl’s Phat Burgers Mill Valley
Another trendy fancy burger place using natural beef. You can get buffalo, beef, chicken, turkey, and veggie burgers. They also have hot dogs and salads, but frankly you come here for burgers, fries, shakes, etc. They use Niman ranch meat. They have 2 locations, Pearl’s Deluxe Burgers on San Francisco’s Nob Hill, the other Pearl’s Phat Burgers in Mill Valley’s posh Blithedale shopping area. We tried both the Mill Valley location and San Francisco.
Decor, Vibe – Small cramped interior, clean. Families, couples, small groups crowding into the place.

Picks:
The half pound Phat Burger ($7.25) with bacon and cheddar cheese was a very good size. We ordered it medium rare and didn’t see any pink in there, but it was hot and juicy and tasted great. If a restaurant ask you how you want your burger done, you will probably get a decent hamburger. Fresh bun, lettuce, onions and tomatoes helped too. In San Francisco, they did get our medium rare correct.
French fries ($2.49) were of good quality, not greasy, not too salty. Quantity was fair, not immense.
Oreo Mint chip Shake ($3.95) was a good sized thick and chunky shake full of oreo bits.
OK:
Kobe Burger ($6.29 plus $3.99 upcharge) was juicy as the normal burger was, slightly more soft and a hint of angus flavor. Not worth the extra money though.
The service was fine. It took about 5 minutes for the burger to arrive. The place was pretty small. If I wanted a good burger, I’d definitely consider this place. It is one of the best burgers around, a little better than Custom Burger, and Mo’s in San Francisco, but a lot better than the average burger.
San Francisco location:

[...] Service was good, but in the end they did overcharge us by a $1. Place was busy and has decent food at a reasonable price. I would put this burger ahead of nearby Jeffrey’s Burgers in San Mateo, but not in the same league as Palo Alto’s Peninsula Creamery, or the hot shots in San Francisco like Pearls deluxe burgers.
